Italo Calvino's Six Memos

I have read this precious book of Calvin at least 10 times.
Yet I can not grasp it. I find, is both simple and profoundly elusive. It looks like the example of the charm of the obvious and glaring at mysterious limit at the same time.
And every time I read it is a discovery. The chapter on light or on a host, for example, teach me something new every time.
More explicit title is the subtitle: " Six proposals for the next millennium "

Even though it is an essay reads like a story, a story to Calvin, or at times surreal and picaresque.

For those who want to go into the narrative mechanisms. Then (should be) for everyone.

Card
The book is based on a series of lectures written by Italo Calvino in 1985 for a series of six lectures at the University Harvard, as part of the prestigious Norton Lectures, "in autumn of that year, but never held because of the death of Calvin, which occurred in September 1985.
Lessons U.S. notes offer useful to guide the transformations that appeared before the eyes of its author. The computer of his years is still configured scope number, but Calvino gives us insights that go well beyond these applications. In all lessons Calvin emphasizes his preference for short texts. Calvin also offers tips less obvious, like that of writing as a control system. It still stresses the importance of rhythm, even in prose narratives. Each
lesson is inspired by a value of literature that Calvin considered important and that he considered the scientific literature for the new millennium.
1.Leggerezza
2.Rapidità
3.Esattezza
4.Visibilità
5.Molteplicità
6.Coerenza (designed only)
Each lesson can be connected roughly some of the most famous author, for example, the issue is addressed in light of our ancestors and The Baron in the Trees, The Path to the Nest of Spiders is rather related to the speed. Proceeding in this way, you can connect to the accuracy The cosmicomiche and Ti with zero in the Multiplicity If a Winter's Night a Traveller, Invisible Cities visibility.
When he died, Calvin had finished all the classes except the last. The book was published posthumously in 1988.

Sampledental Welcome Letters

The Fellowship of the Ring. The Lord of the Rings by John Ronald Reuel Tolkien 1

confess that he had never read before. Too bad.
A work really great. A nice story, just beautiful.
When you read it you are immersed in a world of fantasy and dreams.
A book in Italy, only in Italy, was marked by a fierce, how stupid, prejudice, and that it was an apology of fascism.
It took 30 years to dispel this nonsense (and many still continue to think).
Why?
Why in the book, the land of evil is on the east (the Soviet east), because we talk about runes, heroes, races, and elected, for good and evil, tradition and, finally, because, once branded from our "intellectual dictatorship" of the '70s, as fascist text was adopted by the youth of their right Italians, who have "metaphor."
On the other hand, only in Italy, everything is polarized to the left or right , a shower or bath, mom or nutella, mortadella or finocchiona ... (Remember the song by Giorgio Gaber?). More so today, that the concepts of right and left are losing historical significance and are becoming worn labels emptied of the original substance. Even the great
Branduardi was suspected by these servants of stupidity, to be right, only to have said that on his bedside table always keeps the two texts: the Bible and The Lord of the Rings ...

Synopsis In this first novel in Tolkien's trilogy, the reader knows the Hobbit, tiny beings and sages lived. Frodo, come into possession of the Ring of Power, was forced to leave for the land of darkness. A group of hobbits and accompanies him along the way, are associated with a company other beings: Elves, Dwarves and Men, which are also linked to the fate Frodo. The stages of the journey led them through many different experiences, until the death of Gandalf, dragged into the depths of a hideous creature, leave them without guidance. So melts the Fellowship and its members are dispersed, threatened by dark forces, while the goal seems to get away desperately.

The Castle of Crossed Destinies by Italo Calvino The spiritual

I read this book "difficult" after a few years.
I also ranked among the essays because it is not only a work of fiction, but also a method for making up stories, to show the genesis of the stories as a result of creativity, because creativity does not respond to chance and intuition, but precise rules and fantastic locations.
Calvino uses the tarot as a carpenter gouges: every work of his craft is different because it marks the sensitivity of his hand, but without his tools, it would not create anything. Here, Calvin shows that the craftsman of stories creates original works, but he also needs its own tools, which here are represented by the tarot.
The book is divided into two parts (the castle and the basement ... of Crossed Destinies). The first part is probably better managed, more fun and smooth, while the latter is more cryptic and "complicated".

certainly is not the de Calvino The Baron in the Trees , de Invisible Cities or de If a winter's night a traveler , but it is Calvin, experiment and play as only he can do.
be read before or after ... playing cards.

Synopsis In 1969 the publisher Franco Maria Ricci asked Calvin a text outlining the Tarot deck Visconti, stored at Bergamo and the United States, the oldest known. Calvin applied the combinatorial method, also experienced by Propp and Queneau. In Boccaccio
a frame, a group of travelers who, for a different set of circumstances, have lost the word find themselves in a castle and the only way to communicate is that they represented from a deck of tarot cards. The stories are told by the mute diners on the table by placing the figures of the Tarot, each using those of others, or taking a turn from the deck cards not yet used. The book, which of course is illustrated, was published in 1973ed is divided into two parts: simplifying we can say that the first, The Castle, is a tribute Ariosto, the second part is a tribute to Shakespeare, and uses of the Tarot 700, Marseille.

New Baby Sms To Tell My Friend

a time of Simone de Beauvoir

A very good book, writing a refined and profound culture of the giant 900.
Figure "old" women, still less current and therefore more suitable.
It affects the depth of thought and emotion, also inspired the intimate of the female figure. A narrative
sublime, so as to arouse the sense of smell, giving off the smell of a charming Paris.

Especially today, in this moral relativism, which is the woman so mean and vulgar, you should take refuge in solid reference points, such as de Beauvoir.

be read on the road, ideally in France, preferably in Paris, maybe sitting at Place Saint-Germain des Pres, sitting at the Café de Flore ...

The synopsis: "Stories of women. Tensions vital Crossed Destinies, a Paris in the '30s still strict Catholic, but where already glimpsed The first shadows of existential rebellion. Even Anne: the teenager is consumed in a pure and absolute love impeded by the terrible religious strictness of the mother; an unhappy love that somatization in a bad and off into madness dedication. Marguerite And finally, the girl who answered the stifling atmosphere "spirituality" of the family with arrogant attitudes and 'immoral', touring the cafes of Paris between vagrants and prostitutes, and binding of a strange relationship with the brother who cowardly abandoned his sister. It is the only one, after all, really "unhappy with their own destiny," the only one who can really rise to the obligation biography (and it is not difficult, filigree, he saw a portrait by the same author). "The spiritual time" is the first evidence narrative, remained unpublished, Simone de Beauvoir, a "novel of apprenticeship," written in those years before I met Sartre, under the influence of the literature of the "Nouvelle. These pages contain 'in essence', and already reveal, the roots of anti-conformist message and its author's passionate rebellion in every myth of the eternal feminine "
